Keita rules out Reds move

Liverpool's hopes of signing Barcelona midfielder Seydou Keita have been dashed after the Mali star ruled out a switch to Anfield.

The 32-year-old played just a bit part role in Barca's success under Pep Guardiola, and the following his former manager's departure, he is seeking to extend his stay at the Nou Camp.

Talks are currently ongoing between Keita and the club regarding a new contract as he prepare to enter the final year of his existing agreement, but he is hopeful a deal can be thrashed out to prolong his involvement with the Catalan giants.

Liverpool have been strongly linked with a move for the midfielder's services this summer, but he is adamant he is not destined for the Premier League anytime soon.

Keita told Spanish newspaper Marca: "I won't be going to Anfield. "

I'm waiting to talk to the club to clear up my future.

"I want to stay at Barca, that's my wish. I'd like to retire at the club and I hope it will be possible. "

We need to sit down, see what Barca offers and wants and iron out all the details.

My family is happy in Barcelona."
