Barcelona star Lionel Messi believes Argentina are improving under new coach Alejandro Sabella and have what it takes to lift the World Cup.
Messi - who has won a host of honours with the Catalan giants, including the UEFA Champions League and La Liga title - has rarely produced his club form on the international stage and is yet to taste major success for the Albiceleste.
But Messi is confident the outlook is bright for Argentina with Sabella at the helm and feels a major title is just around the corner.
"I still have this dream and that is to be a world champion and lift the Copa America with the national side," Messi said in an interview with the Argentina Football Association. "And I know I'll do it, I am convinced I shall."
"I would love to win a title with the national team, but I am just another one in the group who wants to do the best for Argentine football, nothing more."
Under Sabella, Argentina have recovered from a poor start to their World Cup qualifying campaign and are now level on points with regional group leaders Uruguay thanks to a recent win over Columbia.
Messi added: "We needed a win like that to strengthen ourselves. It has revitalised us. But sometimes we don't quite get up to the mark either in terms of performance or result. We are aware of that.
"Barcelona are the best team in the world - the result of years of hard work with the same team-mates. It's more difficult with the national side - we've been through a lot of chopping and changing of coaches.
"But we are growing and I know we are going to achieve a lot."
Argentina - who flopped at the Copa America on home soil in July and who are without a major title since 1993 - are 6/1 with Sky Bet to lift the World Cup in 2014.
