Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon announced today that they have reached agreement with Serie A side Fiorentina over the sale of Chilean international Matias Fernandez.
Sporting announced the transfer in a statement to the supervisor of the Lisbon stock exchange. Portuguese press reports say that the 26-year-old former Villarreal player will move to Italy for a fee of around €4m ($6.3m).
Sports daily Record reported that Sporting, who finished fourth in their domestic league last season, will use much of the fee to sign 21-year-old Argentine attacker Valentin Viola from Racing Club in his homeland.
