Mancini don't trust Tevez

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini does not think it will ever be possible to change Carlos Tevez's attitude but believes the striker may be learning.

Carlos Tevez spends a day playing with his family on the beach in Miami.
The Premier League champions were almost derailed last season after Tevez went AWOL following a much-publicised bust-up with Mancini.

It seemed certain the Argentine would leave City but he seemingly priced himself out of a transfer and had to return to the Etihad Stadium and apologise.

Tevez then helped City to the title with some committed performances and while Mancini thinks the striker will always be unpredictable, he believes the South American knows where he went wrong.

"I don't think I can change Carlos. I just want respect, for me and for the club," Mancini said in the Daily Mail while on a pre-season tour in Kuala Lumpur.

"We don't play and work because we earn some money - we start to play when we are young because we like football.

"I hope Carlos understands that maybe he made some mistakes."

Mario Balotelli was another player who almost disrupted City's title-winning campaign after a series of foolish red cards and unprofessional strops.

Asked how he will make sure there are no more behind-the-scenes issues or problems this season, Mancini said: "This is impossible. With Mario, it is impossible. But, Carlos, maybe."
