Forlan "excited" by Internacional link

Inter Milan forward Diego Forlan believes that a link with Brazilian side Internacional is "just rumours", but would be "excited" to move to South America.

Forlan, 33, moved to the San Siro from Atletico Madrid last summer, but has failed to make a profound impact at Inter following a series of injuries.

Brazilian side Internacional have confirmed their interest in Forlan, who has a close attachment with Brazilian football, with his father Pablo having spent seven years in the country with Sao Paulo and Cruzeiro.

"For the time being I have a contract with Inter and in the next few days I will return to Italy,'' Forlan told www.fcinternews.it. "The media reports linking me with a move to Internacional are just rumours.''

Forlan, though, later told Uruguayan television station Tele Doce: "To play near Uruguay, after 14 years abroad, excites me."

Internacional vice-president Lucian Davi earlier confirmed the club's interest in bringing the Uruguayan international back to Brazil.

"If that information is true, we'll be interested," Internacional vice-president Lucian Davi told Lancenet.

"Internacional will have to be creative to know how to handle this kind of situation. If Forlan becomes a free agent, we will have to work something out regarding his wages."
