Bale eye stop Man City this week

Gareth Bale believes Tottenham can get a result from their trip to Premier League leaders Manchester City on Sunday.



Harry Redknapp's third-placed side go into the eagerly-awaited clash at the Etihad Stadium sitting six points behind Roberto Mancini's team.





While admitting it will be tough, Bale believes Spurs have nothing to fear after taking 46 points from 19 games following their opening two league losses to both Manchester teams.





He said: "It will be a big game and one we're looking forward to. There is no reason why we can't pull off a result there.

"City still have a great squad and a great team and no matter what team they put out it will be difficult to play against.





"It wasn't a great start to the season losing to the two Manchester clubs, but all the lads have shown what a great spirit we have here and the determination we have. We've come a long way since then.





"We know we have to play our best football to beat them - they gave us a lesson at home at the start of the season.

"They started the season very well which wasn't good for us, but we bounced back. I'm sure it will be a great game."





Bale believes the pressure is off Redknapp's side as there is little expectation they can lift the title.





He added: "We're not getting too carried away. We will take it one game at a time - I'm sure all the lads will say that.





"We know we're playing good football and hopefully we'll keep plugging away and keep ourselves in contention.





"It will be a big game and one we're looking forward to. There is no reason why we can't pull off a result there."



"As long as we're doing that we'll hopefully keep picking up points and keep ourselves in contention at the end.





"We're playing some great football, need to keep playing that way and stay together as a squad.





"It will not be easy to get above Manchester City and Manchester United but we'll give it a go."





Welcome additions





While Bale would welcome new additions in the current transfer window, he has every faith in the current squad.





He said: "If a player becomes available who will help our team or squad, then it's good for us to get that player in.





"If not, we're doing well enough with the good squad we've got.





"We've got a few injuries to come back - Scott Parker, Sandro, William Gallas and Ledley King - so we have a good squad.





"It will be a tough second half of the season, but one we're looking forward to."
