Yoann Gourcuff's agent, Jean-Pierre Bernes, has rubbished reports the France playmaker could leave Lyon this month, despite his ongoing struggles to impose himself at the club.
"We've spoken with Gourcuff and he has no reason to leave Lyon," said Bernes.
"It would be completely absurd. I'm willing to take this step but I have to be thoroughly convinced of his interest. And that's not the case."
Gourcuff, 25, joined Lyon from Bordeaux in a deal potentially worth 22 million euros ($28.4m) in 2010 but has failed to settle at Stade Gerland.
Occasionally hampered by injuries, this season he has played only seven league games and scored one goal.
"He's at a good club," continued Bernes. "He's been injured, he needs time.
"I can't see how this player could fail to impose himself at Lyon. I don't see the point in finding a new club three or four months before Euro 2012. He will play at Lyon."
The elegant midfielder has 28 international caps but has not played for France since a 0-0 friendly draw against Croatia on March 29 last year.
After injuring his left ankle last summer, he underwent surgery in August and did not return to first-team action with Lyon until October 15.
