Wigan will look to Nicky Maynard to fire them to safety after agreeing to sign the striker in a £2m deal from Bristol City.
Maynard, 25, has been attracting interest from a host of Premier League sides, but will move to the DW Stadium as Roberto Martinez looks to bolster his shot-shy attack.
Bottom club Wigan have scored just 19 goals this season and Bristol City will reinvest some of the cash in Swansea’s Stephen Dobbie.
