Redknapp torn over England job

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has reiterated that he would find it "difficult to turn down" the opportunity to manage England.



But Redknapp knows he would be bored during the long breaks between international matches.



Speculation is steadily building about who might succeed Fabio Capello after the Euro 2012 finals this summer, when the Italian plans to stand down.



Redknapp hopes an Englishman is given the chance to take charge of the national team and he is the favourite to land the role after his good work with Tottenham over the past few years.



Spurs have been quick to play down the reports and Redknapp has previously stated that his sole focus is on doing as well as he can at White Hart Lane for the remainder of the season.



Redknapp is also aware of the challenges that go with the England job, not least the frustration of only being able to assemble a squad every few weeks.



He does admit, however, that it would be an honour to lead his country and a very hard offer to refuse.



"I enjoy the day-to-day coming in to work with players, going out on the training pitch every day, seeing the players," Redknapp said in an interview with BBC Radio 4. "I don't know if seeing players once every six or seven weeks....it would be different for me and I would find it very difficult.



"I would be very bored, I imagine.



"I've always said it's the pinnacle for any Englishman to manage their country.



"When Fabio Capello finishes, I would like to see them give it to an Englishman.



"If it came along, it would be difficult to turn it down for any Englishman."
